            Making Reading Fun!

The purpose of this website is to make teachers and parents aware and enabled to use the internet as a resource to teach their elementary students in grades K-3 to read. I have done research to find quality websites with useful tools and information to teach students to read by making it fun.

Students who use computer based programs and games will have fun and be motivated active participants in the process of learning to read. Teachers and students will find online games and activities to support the classroom instruction of the 5 major components of learning to read: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension.

In order to use my site Teachers/Parents must be willing to use the internet as a resource. Teachers will have previous knowledge of how to use an overhead projector and laptop. Teachers/Parents will have to know how to turn on a computer and get onto the internet through a web browser. They will also have to know how click on website links.

Teachers will engage students in an exciting and fun way and help them to learn to read. Parents will be able to use this resource at home to extend the learning process. Using this web resource can be enjoyable way do homework.

This Web-Based Resource for Teachers and Parents is a partial fulfillment of the requirements of INST 523 Information Access and the Internet at Bridgewater State University with Dr. Thanh Nguyen. I want to sincerely thank all of my INST 523 classmates and Dr. Nguyen who made thoughtful feedback and suggestions to my project.
